This summer I worked on organizing assessments based on the Colorado Sample Curriculum Project. I started by using LiveBinder. It was love at first site. This great app really helps organize my thoughts.
I started by using a backwards design. From the unit generalizations, these are concept based ideas (the big ideas students will get in this unit) I built a summative performance assessment. From the summative assessment I built little mini formative assessments (this way I know if students have all the key skills and concepts they need to complete the summative assessment.)
Check out the rough draft document, this will be a living document, always changing. My big next step is to write rubrics for each of the performance assessments. This year my goal is to teach the Colorado Sample Curriculum, using the assessments from my LiveBinder. I hope to add to each of the assessments as I see what worked, and what didn’t. Ultimately I hope to also link lesson plans to each unit.
